THE CAYON RIVER During the 17th century, St. Kitts was occupied by the French and British forces. St. Kitts, at that time was divided in two; the British settled in the middle, while the French occupied the two ends, Capesterre and Basseterre. The Historical Cayon River served as a line demarcation that separated the French and the English. Thus, the British, settled on one side of the river, occupying the North-eastern portion of the village. This beautiful historical site was used for washing, bathing and drinking. Villagers socialized by the river as they caught Cray fish for boiling or roasting. This Cayon River was the essence of fun history and life.
